At YMCA John Island Camp, we offer a wide range of programs that will suit the needs of any camper. If you are a first time camper and you just want to get your feet wet, check out our specialized 4 night Little Guys and Gals program or our 5 night Adventure Camp.
Our most traditional camp, our two week Youth Camp, offers experienced campers the chance to go on out trips and utilize all areas of camp. Are you 15 or 16 years of age and looking for a one of a kind leadership opportunity? Our Greenway and Norquay programs train and give the skill set to our participants to become leaders both at camp and in their communities.

Youth Camp A - Ages 7-14 NEW!
Youth Camp B - Ages 8-14
With a two week camp adventure, Youth Camp participants will be able to experience EVERYTHING that John Island has to offer. This 12 day traditional overnight camp program encourages campers to make great friends with their cabin mates, hone skills in program areas of their own interest, and experience the outdoors on an outtrip adventure! Youth campers come together every evneing for all-camp activities, and participate in camp-wide theme events and challenges throughout their time at camp. Adventure Camp A - Ages 8-14

Adventure Camp provides a 6-day, 5-night camp experience with a very similar structure and feel to our traditional two-week Youth Camp sessions. Adventure campers experience most program areas of camp and will spend quality time with their cabin mates on a daily basis. Adventure Camp is desgined to be the perfect transition from Little Guys and Gals/JIC Challengers into the Youth Camp Sessions. It really is an amazing summer Adventure! (More Information)
Little Guys and Gals: 6-10 yrs
Little Guys and Gals - Ages 6-10
New dates for 2017!
For the littlest of the little, and the newest of the new, we offer a very unique and specialized 5 day (4 night) program for campers age 6-10. This program is a perfect introduction to an overnight camp and some of the activities appropriate for this age group. Staff members are specifically trained to meet the sensitive needs of this group and ensure that at every point during their stay campers feel safe and happy. (More Information)
Challengers - Ages 11-14 NEW!
This 5-day specialty camp offers in-depth instruction in windsurfing, sailling, and our climbing and high challenge course. Campers are able to spend full days honing their technical skills, supported by skilled and passionate instructors. Small group settings allow campers to develop close friendships with each other and their instructors, ensuring a safe and fun learning and living environment! (More Infomration)
Explorer Canoe Trip:
This 9-day canoe trip in the rugged North Country of Ontario is perfect for the the young adventorist and future leadership participants. The first few days of the program are spent in camp, allowing the group to make sure everything is properly planned and ready to go. Focusing on the basics of canoeing, portaging and out-tripping skills, this program will allow participatns to expand on their knowledge of canoe tripping and living in the outdoors. Leadership Development programs are an opportunity for teens to connect with each other and the great outdoors of Northern Ontario. These are the longest, mist in depth programs offered at John Island Camp, designed to prmote skill development in our oldest campers (15 and 16 year olds). Participants fine tune their technical skills in a variety of traditional camp activities such as sailing, paddling, and climbing. They lead activities for younger campers. Outtripping is a large component of these programs - participants canoe the remote waterways of Northern Ontario on multi-day expeditions. Leadership Programs are led by older, experienced staff members who have extensive training in outdoor skills and leadership. (More Information)
Women's Wellness Weekend
Women from all over Sudbury and beyond will be getting together to take part in a relaxing, self-indulgent, fun-filled weekend in the most magnificent location in the North Channel of Lake Huron.
The Women's Wellness Weekend offers a variety of high quality programs. Outdoor activities include our challenging high and low ropes courses, canoeing, kayaking and hiking. Also available are several workshops and sessions on topics such as creativity, fitness and special interests. As well, the ever- popular massage therapists and aestheticians are on site to provide their services to our participants. On Saturday night a special guest entertainer is featured for all to enjoy. But best of all, healthy, delicious meals are prepared by our chef which means that participants can turn their full attention to trying new things, meeting new people and relaxing in the beautiful natural surroundings. Family Camp - An Experience For the Entire Family!

For many years, YMCA John Island Camp has been pleased to offer a special week each summer just for families. The program includes all of the fun activities that YMCA John Island Camp is famous for: swimming, sailing, arts and crafts, rock climbing, windsurfing, low and high ropes courses, hiking, canoeing... There are daily programs for different age groups (adults too!), open waterfront programs, games, campfire, skit nights, and overnight camping trips. Families can participate in organized activities or relax and play on their own. Included in the camp fee are all meals, accommodation, and programs. (Click here for more information)
