A Northern Ontario Tradition

YMCA John Island Camp is the summer camp and residential outdoor education centre of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario. We are located near the town of Spanish, Ontario Canada. In 2019, John Island Camp will be in its 65th year of operation. YMCA John Island- Chapel PointJohn Island Camp is proud of our reputation for providing high quality camp experiences in a fun, caring, and safe environment- all while being in a unique, inspiring setting in the North Channel of Lake Huron!

We serve children, young adults and adults (girls, boys, teens, and families) through traditional camp programs, adventure, leadership  development, and wilderness travel programs.



What We Offer

As a traditional Summer Kids camp, YMCA John Island Camp offers an array of popular camp activities.  Highlights of our land activity areas, nestled within our 2Trampoline78 acre site, include High Ropes, Climbing Wall, Low Ropes, Archery, Hiking, Camp Fires, Initiatives and Arts and Crafts.  Along our 1.5km sand beach waterfront, John Island offers Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Windsurfing, and Swimming.

Outdoor Education

During the Spring and Fall(new 2019), YMCA John Island Camp operates as an Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre. Many elementary and highschool participants experience these special programs and come from all across Northeastern Ontario. Students participate in outdoor recreation programs, leadership development programs, and environmental learning programs.
